In the last 5 years the Latino population seeking cosmetic treatments has substantially increased, and one of the main cosmetic concerns of this group is pigmentary disorders, with melasma being the primary clinical condition. Latinos come from a mix of various cultures and races. In the pre-Hispanic world, from northern Mexico to southern Chile and Argentina, the local population was already diverse in race and culture. Then various European races came to the Americas and started mixing with the local people. The result was the mestizo population from the combination of Spanish, French, German, and African peoples with an already diverse native Central and South American population.
